DAF Truck: The Dutch spirit within American companies

Under the supervision of PACCAR, the operation of DAF Trucks NV is a good example of successful cooperation between two reputable companies that chose mutual benefit rather than competition. Although the 1996 acquisition was necessary for the DAF, when the company declared bankruptcy in 1993, it spurred a new path to success.

The Dutch are considered to be people who dare to think and live without limits. The two brothers Hub and Wim van Doorne opened a small engineering company under the roof of a winery in the 1930s, as was the case. Over time, a modest automotive workshop became a fast-growing truck manufacturer in Europe.

DAF's potential for cooperation began in 1987 when the company merged with Leyland Trucks, the UK's leading freight business. In the same year, DAF launched the 95 truck series, which won the company's first annual International Truck ' reward and became the flagship product of the brand for many years to come.

Behind every quality product, there is a high quality organization. As of today, DAF vehicles are manufactured at four production facilities. Each factory has its own specific profession. In addition to the historic European divisions of Eindhoven, Westeros and Leyland, DAF trucks also benefit from the Brazilian assembly plant, which was launched by PACCAR in 2013. By the way, it is difficult to overestimate the role of this diversified US trucking company in the formation of DAF trucks as a globally recognized brand.

Another efficient incentive for DAF trucks is reflected in the original line of DAF components. Engines, axles and cabs developed and manufactured by DAF are widely supplied to other companies involved in automotive production. The brand's technology is known for its reliability and productivity. In particular, it applies to the PACCAR engine. Designed in two models, the PX and MX, the PACCAR power unit is suitable for medium and heavy duty operation. To achieve the required environmental and functional efficiencies, manufacturers integrate technical solutions such as common rail fuel injection, air compressors, high-volume synthetic molded oil sump, exhaust gas recirculation and exhaust gas aftertreatment.

Based on numerous honors and awards, DAF trucks are also known for their superior cab comfort. Back in 1985, the brand's designers introduced the space cab with the roof at a relatively high position. Such proposals have been positively met and encouraged to further improve the driver's workplace.
