Wooden toys - how to clean and care for them

Wooden toys are durable and can last for generations with proper care. These simple steps will help you keep your child's toys clean, hygienic and in good condition. We recommend that you thoroughly clean all children's wood products on a regular basis to prevent the spread of bacteria. Because our wooden toys are made of natural materials, it is important to understand the difference between unfinished and finished wood products. Some of our wooden toys have not yet been completed. These toys are not dyed or painted in any way; instead, they are already in a natural state. Our finished wood products are treated with non-toxic dyes and natural paint finishes.

Daily cleaning - Both finished and unfinished toys can be wiped clean with a dry cloth for routine maintenance and cleaning. Unfinished toys can be wiped clean with a damp cloth or sponge to remove dirt or dust and then wiped dry.

Finished toys can be gently wiped with natural, flawless soap and limited water. After cleaning, wipe off the water with a dry cloth and allow the items to dry completely before use. Water and vinegar rinses can be used in the finished product to remove crayon marks and oil-based discoloration. It is not recommended to soak in water, whether it is done or not, as this can cause swelling.

Deep cleaning - If your wood needs deep cleaning, use bleach and an aqueous solution. The ratio is as follows: 1 part household bleach to 10 parts water. Soak a piece of cloth in the solution and wipe the toy clean. Rinse quickly with water and dry with a cloth to allow the toy to dry completely before use.

Taking care of wooden toys

o Avoid leaving wooden toys outdoors for long periods of time. Over time, sun damage can fading wooden toys, and water damage can cause wooden toys to swell and prematurely age.

o If the item should be split or scratched, sand any rough areas with fine sandpaper.

o Do not expose wood to excessive moisture unless it is used as a teether.

o If you have time to clean wooden toys, first wipe them with a dry cloth. If you need to use a damp cloth to remove dirt, slightly moisten the cloth for cleaning. Wipe off the water and let it dry.

o Remember that water is an enemy - never soak a wooden toy as it will absorb moisture.

o Do not use furniture polish to clean wooden toys. Furniture polishes contain toxic substances that can be harmful if your child ingests them.

o Do not use harsh household cleaners on wooden items because chemicals can be absorbed by toys.
