A brief history of popcorn (appreciated with satellite TV)

Popcorn has such a warm, familiar, seductive smell. In the form of Cracker Jack it is a kind of baseball food. It is a kind of Halloween treat in a sticky caramel ball. It is a carnival food in a sugary vat. I remember when I was a child, I went to Ace Hardware with my dad. When we looked at all the exciting tools and parts, they always eat free popcorn. During the holidays, we will string it online and decorate the garlands for all birds and squirrels with the trees in our yard. But the most important thing is to put a little butter on the top, popcorn is the best snack when watching a movie.

What is the story behind this simple food, many people watching me from the high-resolution blue-footed ostrich mating ceremony on the animal planet to the classic movie that Casablanca plays on satellite TV?

Popcorn is of course made from corn. Therefore, it is native to the Americas and was discovered by Native Americans thousands of years ago. Some people put the corn on the stick and put it on the fire, just like you use a hot dog on a campfire, while the South American Moche is actually made of pottery. The oldest popcorn found was discovered in a cave in New Mexico, with at least 4,000 years of history. New World explorers will eventually bring popcorn back to Europe, although the idea started a long time ago. Even today, popcorn is far more popular than the rest of the United States, and most foreign corn is imported from US crops. Bet you don't know that your crunchy hospitality has such a long and glorious history when watching HDTV!

Dry corn kernels contain a certain amount of oil and water, which is essential for their bursting properties. Popcorn is naturally rich in fiber, low in calories, and free of sodium or sugar. So it can be a healthy snack. Of course, we all tend to deny this by placing salt and butter on it. If you want to stick to a healthy version, buy your own air popper and get fresh at home. Eat without adding fat and sodium, it can be a good exercise after treating the child, or a healthy snack between meals.

Although most corn varieties are somewhat prevalent, a particular strain has been developed to be better and larger than other varieties, and almost all commercial popcorn comes from this strain. In some farmers' markets or specialty stores, you may find colorful "Indian corn" dried with corn cobs, which can suddenly turn into small and delicious batches, but basically it is more innovative than actual consumption.

Do some real Americans next Sunday: watch football and eat popcorn! Both have made a lot of changes since their American descent - football fans can now use many different games and highlights on NFL Sunday tickets, while popcorn uses simple microwave packaging - but both retain it Nature. Pure athleticism and simple snacks are now patriotic.
