Car
The DB4 sports car was introduced as a two-door series at the 1958 London Motor Show.
With its popularity, the lighter DB4 GT was launched at the same venue in 1960 with a view to appear on the track.
This mainly involves reducing the DB4's wheelbase by 5 inches and using a thinner, lighter 18 gauge aluminum body panel, which significantly reduces the quality of the kerb to 1270 kg.
However, when it comes to racing performance, the DB4 GT lags far behind its stable model DBR1, which won the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours.
As a result, Aston Martin subsequently decided to approach the refurbished Italian Zagato House, specializing in lightweight body structures.
The goal was to create a DB4 GT-based racing car, which was a tough competition for the Ferrari 250 GT, which was in an unassailable position in the World Sports Car Championship.
According to the agreement, the first chassis was shipped to Zagato in 1960 with the goal of producing 25 new sports cars, which will be named DB4 GT Zagato.
The Zagato is smaller, lighter and more aerodynamic than the DB4 GT.
By removing unnecessary components, such as bumpers, replacing as many steel components as possible with aluminum, and using plexiglass instead of glass, an additional 45 kilograms is removed from the total weight.
It uses an aluminum alloy body on a chassis consisting of steel and aluminum to produce a 1225 kg kerb mass.
It is equipped with a Girling hydraulic disc brake, a separate front suspension with a movable shaft at the rear and 16-inch wheels.
One feature of the body styling is the addition of two projections in the hood to allow for the protruding rocker cover.
However, once again, Aston Martin could not surpass Ferrari's dominance, and DB4 Zagato could not be compared with the Ferrari GTO.
Most of the 19 Zagatos built at the end of production in 1963 were sold to privately-run racing teams, although four of them were produced as road-legal sports cars.
Engine

It is powered by a 3.7-liter straight 6, 6-valve DOHC engine with a compression ratio of 9.0:1, three double choke Weber carburetor and two spark plugs per cylinder for 302 bhp and 270 ft / lbs of torque .
It is connected to a four-speed manual closing ratio gearbox, which allows it to reach a top speed of 152 mph, and a time of 0-60 mph is 6.1 seconds.

Zagato will be powered by the improved engine used in the DB4 GT, which includes increasing the compression ratio from 9.0 to 9.7:1, increasing 314 bhp at 6000 rpm and 279 ft / lbs at 5400 rpm.
This produced a top speed of 154 mph, which was 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds.
