Concrete radius cutting for decorative purposes is an option that homeowners can use, and if done properly, can make the backyard a more attractive space. Special attention to planning and layout can turn a dull and unpopular backyard into your own backyard paradise.
Many times, the homeowner will contact me. They feel that there is too much concrete in their backyard and hope that some of them will be removed to create additional planting space. Usually, they have some rectangular configurations. After discussing with them what they want to achieve, I will mention that they are not limited to straight concrete cutting, we can also carry out concrete radius cutting configuration. .
Most of them believe that concrete radius cutting is even an option, and we can provide an unlimited number of different configurations. The concrete radius is cut correctly, can be truly dressed, softened, and provides a more natural invitation space for the backyard.
We start with the layout instructions first. We take a hose, place it on concrete, and then shape it into the desired shape. After we got the shape and appearance, we then picked up a pencil and used a hose to draw the radius we just created. After marking the pencil, we took the varnish and sprayed it on the pencil line to wash it off as we cut the concrete radius.
Next, I will take a hand-held demonstration saw and start a very shallow cut according to the radius pencil line just dropped. The key is to make a very shallow pass, about 3/4 or less per pass. No matter how serious the specific radius reduction is, we will leave the next step. Anything that can't be cut with a demo saw, I will use a small electric hand grinder with 4'. Concrete blades. This small blade gives you more flexibility in extreme curve cutting. I completed any cuts that could not be done using the demo saw, this 4'' electric hand grinder. Keep in mind that you can only cut a maximum depth of 1 1/2 inches. After completing all the concrete radius cutting, I will take out the large flat saw [walking behind the machine] and start cutting one to two inches from all the radii, cutting into the straight line of the concrete slab. By cutting the entire slab behind the radius cut, the pressure is relieved and the concrete begins to be removed. Cutting the slab may be the most important step because it allows for complete separation between the emerging slab and the resting concrete.
Pneumatic jack hammers are used to remove concrete slabs. We will begin to dismantle the slab with a large pneumatic jack hammer; usually, starting from the center, continue to work towards the finished radius cut. As we approach the concrete radius cut, we will switch to a smaller hand-held hammer. This is where we spend our time, and then slowly remove the reminders; remember that these cuts are probably not completely cut. So having a little extra time here is crucial because it doesn't cut or break the finished edge.
