Get Rid of Debt Coach Lesson 1 - Identity

Life coaches bring customers from where they are now to where they want to go. This is a process of building the future, not dealing with the past. If you need help from the past, I suggest you find a good counselor or therapist.

Coaches can help you create the goals you want to go, overcome obstacles, and create momentum for your advancement. Think of it as a canyon. You stand by. You want to get to the other side. The coach will help you build the bridge and let you cross the bridge. It doesn't matter how long you look at the canyon. You will never encounter the canyon until you decide to build the bridge and start walking.

You are in debt today. Your vision is to get rid of debt. You see your dream of debt freedom through the canyon. But you have already read the book and tried an invalid course. You still have the same credit card bill, the same car loan, and maybe a large student loan. Why are these books and courses not suitable for you? from

Because no one helps you bridge the gap and start walking through it!

From now on, I am your debt coach. So let's start your first lesson... your identity.

Your self-identity is fundamental. The choices you make in life and the behaviors you display are from your identity.

Imagine a person with a low status. This person has little confidence in himself. He may have good ideas, but keep himself. He allows others to make decisions for him, even if he disagrees because he does not believe that he is a capable person.

On the other hand is a person with a high status. She is very confident and may even be arrogant. She believes she is always right, refuses to listen to others or solicit their opinions. Regardless of the situation, she is rushing forward.

Where is your position on this spectrum? Especially how do you relate money to your identity? You went out to eat with friends last night, even if you know that you can't afford the money, because you don't want to tell your friends that this meal is not within your budget? You went out for dinner last night, even if you know that you can't afford it, because "you work hard this week, should you get it?". These two extremes are examples of unhealthy identities. Both lead to more and more debt.

I need to let you develop a Saver identity. You need to believe that this is not a negative thing! If you think that saving money is equal to having no fun in life, then you will undermine your plan or quit your plan. Some people can cut everything from their lives [cable or satellite TV, occasionally go out to eat or watch movies, etc.] and use these savings to pay off their debts. But most people can't. This type of Saver identity may be too extreme for you; unhealthy for you. You need to create a healthy protector identity that allows you to repay your debt in the way you create and work for you, rather than the way someone tells you.

What is a healthy protector identity?

  • You know that you have a responsibility to get out of debt.
  • You are full of hope for the future, you can dream of becoming a debt-free person.
  • You must always save for your emergency fund and then save for your debt.
  • You set the border so you don't overspend.
  • You are full of confidence in your plan.
  • You know that you are responsible for it, no one else.

If you want to bridge this gap and get rid of debt, start researching your identity today. Make sure you are a saver, not a Spender.
