Toys can be traced back to 3,000 years ago. The most interesting facts about the history of toys come from how they are made. Many children play and express what they recognize in their culture. For example, a boy would imitate a soldier's shield made of wood to protect them, while a long stick would have their sword. Little girls will take what they see from their imaginations, such as taking care of their younger siblings, cleaning, sewing and cooking.
Native American toys
Early Native American settlers had toys such as bows, whistles, rods and dolls, all of which were carved in wood or cut with sharp knives. These are handmade and different from each tribe based on the beads and threads used. Some children make dolls with corn cobs and stalks with vivid imagination. It was not until the late 1900s and early 1900s that American children introduced toys made.
Handmade
Some of the games introduced to early American children were Rolling Hoops, Nine pins, Flying Circle and Tops from Dutch settlers. A game similar to tic-tac-toe has been etched into the walls and floors of the Roman Empire. Modern games from India, such as checkers and chess, are also popular.
Puzzle
Another past adventure was Jigsaw Puzzles. The works created by British map makers combine to form a painting. You can spend a few hours and days to piece together a puzzle, then pull it apart and piece it together. The early puzzles were made of wood.
