Interior Design Lighting Foundation 101

Lighting is very important! Without it, you are just "in the dark." This may take a while, but soon you will want to "see the light!"

Vision, plan or purpose. In a new home or renovation, it is especially important to have a floor plan that shows the furniture layout. Then complete the "Reflective Ceiling Plan" on it, so we found out where to locate the lighting. This allows us to make the most of the impact of the lighting program on us. These concepts are constantly evolving around the atmosphere, mood and feelings of the development environment.

This idea is what we want from

Lighting, not just the lighting source itself. In some cases, such as with chandeliers, the aesthetic value of the luminaire is also true from

It is as eye-catching as lighting.

The more we can "zone" the lighting and place different fixtures on the dimmer or varistor, the better. This gives us a wider range of games and controls. By providing the right lighting in the space, we can have a more daring emotional impact!

In order to achieve our goals, we need to know the darkness or brightness of the space, the type of texture and materials that will be used, and the specific items we plan to illuminate. It can include cocktail tables, seating groups, artwork and sculptures... to name a few.

I will briefly introduce and outline three different bulb styles. Most people know "light bulbs", but in the lighting industry, we call them "light bulbs."

  • the first from

The "A" light is similar to that designed by Thomas Edison and is what most people put in the desk lamp. Light is emitted from all directions. Therefore, the "A" lamp has no special control.
  • second from

: "Reflector" lights These are also known as "R" lights. They usually appear as "spots" or "floods", which refer to tight beam spread or broad beam spread, respectively. It is a tapered beam. The base reflector allows the focused illumination to diverge outward like a 360° fan.
  • third from

: "MR-16" lamp This is an improvement of the reflector lamp. It is quite small in size and has a specular reflector. It can reduce the voltage from 120 volts to 12 volts when running on a transformer! This type of illumination is "low voltage" illumination. These lights have more control. They are also more "color corrected". This means they can render colors better from

This is part of what jewelers call "fire." The MR-16 emphasizes gems and promotes its brilliant "fire", "flash" and color.

possibility! It could be a painting or sculpture, a formal dining table, a food preparation area in the kitchen or a quiet niche. Many variables are considered when finally determining the position of our positioning fixture. We need to consider the low or high ceiling, the beam spread of the lamp, the angle of the "attack", the wattage of the lamp, and the distance the lamp is placed from the illuminated object. Welcome to my photometer world!

The fixture just holds the "light" but it is the light bulb from

Do all the work. Think about the flashlight. There is a reflector and a light bulb or "light" at one end. Imagine yourself holding a bucket of flashlights. In this example, the flashlight is a fixture for the fixed lamp. your hands from

Consider a fixture similar to your hand

. Your hand holds and directs the light in good faith. Pretend that this luxury flashlight has the added ability to adjust beam spread. You can tighten it to get a narrow beam spread or loose it for wide beam spread. So remember, the "lights" have done the job!

In short, we have to deal with the lighting plan backwards and then systematically determine what we want to do with lighting. We must consider the level of lighting we want to bring a lot of change and interest. We also enhance the texture through lighting. It is also beneficial to plan ahead for potential changes in the future. Our mission is to be done in your surroundings and the objects in it. from
