National composition of the Benue State

After the failure of the local government, the formation of the Nigerian state was considered by the Gao En general government to be the best choice to help unite the different ethnic groups that split and merge along the region. This is because regional politics has made the central government very weak. On the other hand, it has made the main ethnic groups more loyal to the regional government rather than the center. After the abolition of regional divisions, ethnic groups in Nigeria began to live and interact at the state level.

The first generation of states was created in twelve, and the state of Benue is carved under the Benuei Plateau. Benue - Plateau states are more or less like sandwiches of more than 30 ethnic tribes, or ethnic groups that are interdependent between cultures. However, major tribal/ethnic groups include Ngas, Biron, Kutev, Tiv, Idoma, Igala, and others. Headquarters [state capital] in Jos, all representatives of these peoples [different tribes and ethnic groups] are usually sent to Jos for consideration of state affairs.

The second-generation state created a total of 19 states, and during this period Benur was separated from the plateau, and each state had its own independent state. After the creation of the state of Benue, the ethnic groups inhabited include Igra, Idom, Tiff, Igd and other relatively small ethnic groups. None of the above groups belong to the three main cultural groups of Nigeria [Hausa, Ibo and Yoruba]. These ethnic minorities are socially and politically unified on a platform as a country that manages national affairs. During this time, the only radio station, Radio-Benue, will use the local language of different ethnic groups for news translation. During national or national events, all cultures will be culturally displayed in the form of dance, drama and other performances, first of all entertainment, but mainly indirectly representing their tribes and recognizing them with the state.

Later created Kogi State cut off Igala and joined some parts of Kwara. This reduces the number of people and cultural representation of the state. Considering that Western civilization in the region came very late compared to northern and southern Nigeria, this also affected development to some extent. There is little industrial development within the country, and more than 90% of traditional farmers [farmers] make a living through agricultural products. Food is actually rich, and the country is the main source of food supply for the country. This alone has given Benue State the title of "National Food Basket".
