Technical Writing - Analysis of technical exchanges, paying $82,961 to $107,854 per year

It is important from time to time just to remind yourself that qualified technical writers and communicators still have the opportunity to complete the recent economic downturn. This is a full-time writing position offered by a US federal agency to a US citizen journalist.

It pays $82,961 a year to $107,854 [depending on your qualifications] - 90% of full-time poets, novelists and screenwriters will not see the kind of money.

I will highlight some of the features of this position to better understand all of these wonderful opportunities in technical writing, perhaps to argue whether you are a technical writer.

The person selected for this position will serve as a technical writer and editor for the institution.

However, since the agency is also launching a "health campaign" [rather than its real name] nationwide, the author will eventually serve as the project officer for the campaign.

The responsibilities of this technical writer include the following:

1] Develop and distribute information about new research results.

2] Create different information products for healthcare professionals, researchers, the press and the public, including publications, e-newsletters, multimedia training, videos, public service announcements and exhibitions.

3] Write and publish press releases, hold news conference calls and media briefings.

4] Develop and implement a promotion and dissemination plan.

5] Respond to inquiries from the public, the press, clinicians and researchers.

6] Maintain and establish relationships with constituent groups and stakeholders, and coordinate special activities.

7] Update and maintain the agent's clinical trial database.

8] Update and manage the content of the agency website and develop new web pages as needed.

So, this is the price of some technical writers for $82,000 to $107,000 a year.

What do you think?

Do you agree with me that this is a very dynamic position that requires interpersonal and journalism skills as well as direct information design and technical writing experience?

There are many such jobs for technical writers, because the demand for good information and communication professionals will never disappear, regardless of the economy.

The Technical Exchange Association [STC] member site is a great place to find these jobs. I highly recommend it.
