Three interesting reasons to understand philosophy

For most people, philosophy is a strange subject, so it seems to be a difficult proposition to begin to demonstrate that it is useful in everyday life. However, with the development of applied philosophy and the practice of philosophical consultation, philosophy has taken on new significance. In fact, philosophy has always been important. As Epicurus pointed out, "Vanity is the philosopher's inability to heal any suffering. It will not expel the suffering of the soul."

Treatment of Sane: from

Lou Marinoff calls philosophical practice "a sensible treatment." This is a good description of the recent philosophical mentoring movement, but as the epilogue of Epicurus says, philosophers have been concerned with improving lives and alleviating suffering. Only recent movements such as analytic philosophy have moved away from this tradition. Philosophy invites us to think about how to live a happy and meaningful life. It also provides an opportunity to solve the ultimate problem of pain and death in life, and in the best sense, it is indeed treatment that is understood as a concern for the soul.

The power of thought: from

Philosophy is actually a study of thought and its power in our lives. Alfred Adler once said that "a person's behavior stems from his thoughts." Therefore, the study of thought is not only important for understanding the behavior of others but also for ourselves. Our lives are greatly guided by many ideas, such as truth, beauty, justice, meaning and benefits, to name a few. A systematic study of these can give us a deeper understanding of some of the most important aspects of life.

meaning: from

The question of meaning is one of the most important aspects of anyone's life. The psychiatrist Viktor Frankl realizes that a lot of psychological pain is caused by the failure to find meaning. His treatment is called Logotherapy, and the premise is that finding meaning is an important key to mental health. Philosophy provides a way to test our lives and find meaning.

The study of philosophy is often seen as an abstract exercise that has little to do with everyday life and the problems encountered by real people. However, the best philosophy provides the insights needed to solve the ultimate problems in life and helps to find meaning and purpose in life. In addition, each of us is influenced by a creative world. Studying them is to understand them and their impact on us. This is an important pursuit.
