Baby showers are the time when women [or men, women and men!] get together to bathe mothers and gifts. Traditionally, food and cakes are provided and games are played. So why not take traditional activities and modernize them? It has been modernized by allowing men to join in the fun, so keep the "traditional modern" theme and conduct treasure hunt!
More than just playing a normal shower game, you can eliminate all of these games and just take a big hunt to take up time. They are great because they really let all the guests get involved. At the end of the shower, the guests will say, "Wow, I have never done this before in the baby shower... this is a unique idea!"
If you decide to try a scavenger hunt, here are some additional ideas you can use to give it:
- Hunting baby as the theme
- If it is a mixed bath for men and women, divide the team into girls and boys
- All the objects you hide can be used as a gift for expectant mothers.
- Make sure you remember to win prizes for the winner
- Put the clue on the cute baby paper
- Integrate hunting into women's wallets instead of physical hunting [think of the game "What's in my mother's wallet?"]
- It doesn't have to be outside, but if it's a good day, your guests will enjoy being able to get outside
These are obviously just the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to different ideas that you can use to do a treasure hunt in the shower. Use your imagination... The sky is the limit, you can do something very cool and unique with such events. Just because it is a baby shower doesn't mean it has to be somehow. The purpose of the shower is to have fun and celebrate the upcoming new life [of course, in order to allow the mother to start as much as possible as a baby product].
No matter how many people you attend, whether male or female, or both... you can organize hunting for any number of people and any type of guests. You will never hear someone complaining about fun. Talk to your future mom. If she goes all out, why not try it?
A few things to keep in mind when planning a hunt:
- You don't want it to be too long. Maybe an hour of tops. Remember that you still need to make cakes and presents.
- Simplify things. It doesn't have to be too fancy... it's just a fun thing for your guests and future moms. Also, you don't want to increase the pressure.
- Tell your guests about the treasure hunt in the invitation. They are happy to know what will happen before they arrive.
- Provide an alternate option for guests who do not want to participate. In some cases this is not required.
- Get R.S.V.P - it helps to understand how many prizes you need and how much food you need.
With a little planning and a lot of organization, you will be the best treasure hunt game ever!
