It is highly recommended to make a backup before modifying any settings in the Windows Registry. You can back up as follows:
Copy System.dat and User.dat or use REGDIT to export a single part of the registry. The entire registry backup can be done this way.
Create a backup by exporting a partial registry
from
1. Go to START, then click RUN and type REGEDIT and click OK

2. In the Registry Editor, select the key you want to back up.

3. Next, select "Export Registry File" in the "Registry" menu.

4. It asks you to save it in the list and select the folder where you want to keep the backup.

5. Press the name of the backup file and in the "File name" box, select a name that is easy to remember or call, such as "Copy" or "Backup".

6. Remember to select the "Select Branch" option in the "Export Range" box.

7. Then press Save. This file will be saved with the a.reg extension.
Modify the registry key
For modifying registry entries related to Word, it is strongly recommended to use the RegOptions macro if you want to modify the settings for Word for Windows 95. To review in any other program, you need to make changes in the registry itself. Let us learn how to do this.
1. Start RegEdit and export the key you need to modify by following the steps in the "Backing up partial registry backups" section above.
