Free live TV and dish network offers - What is Catch?

Are you interested in getting a free satellite TV system? Unless you have been living under rock for the past five years, you have heard of Direct TV and Dish Network giving their online customers a free offer. Of course these offers sound great, but what are the benefits?

Free satellite TV system and up to 4 rooms for first-time customers. They also offer free upgrades for their DVR and HDTV receivers, and typically offer programming or free upgrade discounts for your programming package in the first few months. Obviously, these are great deals, but you should be aware of some things before ordering a new satellite TV system online.

Activation fee?

Dish Network charges a one-time fee of $49.99, but you can return it as the first billed credit card. Direct TV does not charge any upfront fees, but if your transaction does not include it, you may be required to pay shipping. If your credit is bad, both companies will charge a small deposit.

Do I have to sign a contract?

that's right! Since Dish Network or Direct TV offers you a lot of free services and devices, they want to make sure that you can keep paying customers until they return the money. This means you must agree to an 18-month contract with Dish Network [similar to a mobile phone contract]. The contract for live TV varies depending on your system. If you choose a DVR system, you will sign a 1-year contract and a 2-year contract for a normal or HD system.

This is the bottom line.

Now, the authorized dealers of the two satellite TV companies do not accurately advertise the activation fee and the contracts required for these free offers. Before you see these offers, they just don't want to scare you away. Even with contracts and activation fees, these are still good deals.
