If I don't have adulthood, can I join the army?

"If I am under 18, can I join the army?" This is a common question raised by high school students considering the services of the US military. The answer is affirmation and negation. In this article I will explain the conditions for joining in underage.

In order to join the US military, regardless of the branch, you must be of sufficient age to be legally responsible for your actions or, more specifically, to advertise your information in a legal agreement. Translation, you must be 18 years old to sign military conscription instruments.

However, there are many potential recruits who don't want to wait until they are 18 to join the army. Maybe you are one of them. If so, I will assume that you have found a way to complete high school in four years, or sometimes you are always younger than your peers, so you find yourself graduated at the age of 16 or 17.

If this is the case and you unfortunately want to join the service after graduating from high school, as long as you have reached at least 17 years old, this is definitely possible. At the age of 17, you will be able to complete all recruitment documents, application procedures and background checks. However, you will need to accept the signature of your parent or guardian to be accepted.

If you are from a military family or a military family, this should not be a problem for you. However, many parents object to their young children joining the army, regardless of age. This is not because of the lack of patriotism, but because of the fear of sending the baby they received into the battle.

If you belong to the above categories, you will not be able to join until your 18th birthday. Don't use this time to harass and feel sorry for yourself. Instead, use this time to prepare for the upcoming conscription. The more prepared you are, the faster the process will be once you finally move to 18 and can sign your own recruiting documents.

This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Discuss paperwork and requirements with recruiters
  • Collect and organize all required documents
  • Prepare your family because you really will join the army
  • Battery learning for the upcoming armed service professional ability
  • Be prepared to meet the fitness standards of your chosen branch
