Top 10 tips on how to get into the Reddit / Digg homepage

I wrote a post about how Reddit / Digg traffic affects your AdSense cleanup. The main idea is that you get a lot of traffic, but without clicks, your main goal is to get backlinks to improve your page rank.

I have visited the reddit homepage many times, which helps improve my page rank and ranking in Google search results. Here are some tips I have experienced myself, and I can read them on other blogs.

1. Unique article.
from

The article or post you submitted should not be a copy of someone else - you will not receive any votes.

2. Understand what people like.
from

Your article should be useful, interesting, or amazing. If it's a "how to do something" post, then it really should help the dummies, maybe the professionals are better than them to "do something." But you can also succeed with some interesting pictures, stories or videos.

3. Select the subject you want.
from

Posts like "How to make a Daft-Punk-style bass line in rationality" won't get much attention. The most popular Reddit theme [according to statisticsfreak] is:

- Politics [30%]

- Internet and personal computer [18%]

- Bizarre [12%]

- Social and other [10%]

- Science [9%]

- Entertainment [9%]

- Business [5%]

- Technology [3%]

For Digg:
from

- Industry News [33%]
from

- Apple [15%]
from

- Software [13%]
from

- Design [10%]
from

- linux / unix [7%]
from

- Hardware [6%]
from

- Gadgets [5%]
from

- Programming [4%]
from

- Security [3%]

- Technical transactions [2%]

- mods [2%]

- News [3%]

- Sports [1%]

Write an attractive headline.
from

This is not easy, many articles are about writing good headlines, even reddit and digg. Ok, some of my suggestions are:
from

- Enter the top 10.
from

- Make a post on "How".
from

- Write simple, compelling headlines [although you can make headlines based on its size to attract attention].
from

- Use the name [Apple, Google, George Bush, Paris Hilton, etc.].

Making a good title won't vote for you, you can only get them by providing high quality content, but it will allow more people to click on your link and then it will disappear from the first page of the "new" section.

5. Know the timing.
from

It is usually important at the time of day/day of your submission. There are no numbers here because my readers come from different geographic regions, but try to submit them before many users visit reddit / digg.

6. Submit to the subcategory.
from

Sub-categories are much less competitive, so you can get more attention. Submit your articles to the main reddit page and subcategories.

7. Check the grammar.
from

No comments, I hope it is understood.

8. Make friends.
from

Add people to your friends list, vote for their stories, and post comments. It allows people to pay more attention to your work, especially if you really want to get traffic from reddit / digg.

9. The latest information.
from

Make sure your article is based on "fresh" information.

10. Wait patiently.
from

Maybe you won't do it now, try different stories, titles, themes and time. Getting the top of reddit is easy, but don't be disappointed with the failure.
