It is written in the PHP programming language and uses the MySQL database system to store information. Joomla is the result of Mambo's fork. According to the terms of the GNU General Public License, Joomla is free software.
This is Wikipedia's definition of Joomla, which is good, but it may not be so clear. Easy to understand, CMS provides you or your customers with a system that is easy to use and manage to add, edit and create content. That is the most basic form of CMS. Most of them are free to download, providing your customers with a wealth of interactive tools so their websites can keep customers engaged and return more. Others do charge, but they are usually more reliable and feature richer.
