Is your fax machine worth repairing?

Everyone must make an informed decision and decide whether to repair the fax machine or replace the fax machine when blinking. First, you need to consider the service fee and don't forget to replace the parts. Some components in a fax machine can actually cost more than a machine. In this case I will never repair the machine.

Some people are just used to their fax machines and don't want to make changes. If it is a cheaper model, I will look for a new fax. If the cost of replacing the value exceeds the service rate and does not require any parts, I can consider repairing it. The conventional parts that are worn are the separation pads in the paper feed roller and the automatic paper feeder. These are common replacement parts and range in price from $25.00 to $150.00 depending on the manufacturer.

This is a ranking system, I want to help you decide if you should fix it or give it up.

a. ] Box Store fax machine:
Ranking: Low price, consider replacement.
The Box Store fax machine is a fax machine you buy at a large retail store. They are very inexpensive to purchase and most are designed for the average home user. I have seen a regular paper fax machine, priced at $89.00, a rebate of $50, and a total purchase price of $39.00. They forgot to mention about 7 cents per page of toner. I call my customer every day and ask if I can repair their fax machine. When I told them my on-site labor rate, they quickly ended the call. The only solution for these solutions is to box them and send them back to the manufacturer. Then you have to wait two or three weeks, when it comes back, it's not even the same machine you sent. If you are lucky, these should last for about a year. They are designed to be disposable.

b. ] Box Store high-end:
Ranking: Medium to high considering repair.
These machines actually work fine and work well. If you want to repair this type of machine, as long as the parts and labor do not exceed half the price of the machine, I will continue. When purchasing such a machine, you need to research and check the cost of toner to find the lowest cost per page. If you receive a large number of pages, you may increase the cost of high toner. This can pay an additional fee for the business model within one year. In order to get a good one, I believe that luck has a lot to do with it. My client wants to ask me which one is the best, but I don't want to say because I don't sell this level of machine. It is too important for me and my company's name. You see that I have sold some of them and it is not very useful. I decided to sell only high-end machines and I never felt sorry for it. If you want me to name some brands here. Brothers, Hewlett-Packard and Sharp have always had good equipment, but even so there are lemons.

c. ] Business mode fax machine:
Ranking: Absolutely fix this model, but the view is abnormal.
A large-capacity fax machine is a bit like a copy machine. They are designed for medium to heavy duty use. You should keep these machines running. The only exception is that the board is off. The cost of the board may be comparable to the new machine. You can consider repairing a board at a cost that is about half the cost. The cost of these machines is much higher, but the cost per print is much lower. The cost per page of toner is about 1.5 cents per page. They are designed to be used for many years. The average professional series should last five to seven years. If you ask me which brand is the best fax, I have to say Ricoh. Ricoh is a very reliable machine.

in conclusion:
I have been in the office machine repair business for more than 20 years. During these years, I have owned and operated my own business for 14 years, selling and repairing copiers, fax machines and printers. Ten years ago, one third of my maintenance business was repairing fax machines. Now, if I repair or repair more than one fax per month, this is unusual. This definitely reduces the price of the device. I am also an honest business person, and I always keep in touch with every customer and potential customer. This is not just about another sale. It is about educating customers.
