There are currently more than 20 CAD software on the market. Which one should you study?
Well, when I was studying for an engineering degree, it was the most annoying problem for me. Every time I ask someone, whether it is my predecessor or my professor, they give me a different answer. Some people want me to go to Catia or NX Unigraphics, while others choose Solidworks or Autocad. I am worried that no one has suggested that Solidedge and my university teach me Solidedge. This decision is difficult for me, but I have to choose one because my goal is to be a design engineer. Finally, I went to CATIA because one of my friends suggested that most of the car companies in Germany use this CAD software.
How does learning CAD software get me to work?
In August 2016, when I received my industrial training at BFW [Bharat Fritz Werner], they were German. They did not use Catia but used Solidworks. I managed to get the software in some way and learned some modules from the Internet to complete my industrial training. As I already know Catia & Solidedge, learning Solidworks is not difficult for me. I would also like to thank my project instructor for helping me complete the industrial training of the software.
In June 2017, when I was interviewed by Adobe Metal Products, the factory manager asked me from
"Do you know Solidworks?'
Obviously, the answer is yes, I know SolidWorks. I told him about my previous SolidWorks experience and he left a deep impression on me. But I know I need to know more. So, before joining Adobe Metals, I started learning Solidworks. When I finally joined there, I was assigned the company's 3D modeling work. But as time went by, I was also familiar with Autocad, because my company's CNC punch only accepted AutoCAD files.
Currently, I am familiar with 4 different CAD software and are qualified to provide a decent answer to this question. let's start. I have to tell you 3 different formulas to solve this problem.
1. CAD software has three different levels: -
Primary software: -
- Used only for 2D drawing work.
- They are mainly used in micro and small manufacturing.
- This software is very cheap or free.
- These are not user friendly.
- Examples: - AutoCAD 2D, Draftsight, etc.
- Used for 2D drawing and 3D modeling work.
- These are the very user-friendly software of choice for all beginner design engineers.
- This software is suitable for small and medium-sized industries.
- They are more expensive than basic level software but cheaper than advanced software.
- Examples: - Solidworks, Solid Edge, etc.
- Used for all 3 CAD, CAM, CAE jobs.
- These are very expensive software.
- These are for use by top companies only.
- These are very expensive software.
- The software is very complicated to use.
- For example: - Catia, Siemens NX, etc.
According to ' Idatalabs' Research, we have the following data: -
- 38099 company uses Solidworks.
- Catia is used by 11,369 companies.
- Siemens NX is used by 2,393 companies.
- AutoCAD is used by 114,818 companies.
- Creo / ProE is used by 2,355 companies.
- Solid Edge is used by 83 companies.
- 10,446 companies use Draftsight.
- Autodesk Inventor is used by 8881 companies.
Therefore, these four kinds of software are the most widely used in the market. Fortunately, we only have one kind of software, which comes from the primary and professional levels.
3. CAD software used by different companies: -
- SolidWorks is used by Tesla Motors, Illinois Tool Works, BFW, Adobe Metals, Pentair, and others.
- Catia is used by Triumph Group, Honda R&D Americas, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Škoda, Bentley Motors Limited, and the like.
- AutoCAD is used by Atkins, Restoration Hardware, and almost all micro/small scale industries.
- Siemens NX is used by Rolls-Royce Holdings, B / E Aerospace, Daimler, SpaceX, etc.
- AutoDesk Inventor is used by Parker-Hannifin, Cameron International, Mettler-Toledo International, and the like.
- Creo is used by Paccar, Cummins, Lockheed Martin, Toyota, and the like.
- Solid Edge is used by Kulite Semiconductor Products, Wooster Brush, CNH Industrial NV, etc.
- Draftsight is used by Semtech Corporation, Mecsmart Systems Inc., Terex, and the like.
good luck!
